Horses As Characters: Dino is Spock

When Austen published her incredible post featuring Pig's uncanny resemblance to Emperor Kuzco, she knew it HAD to turn into a blog hop, and almost immediately afterwards went traipsing off into the vast interwebs to find GIF's for me so that I could share Dino's true identity with the world. She is brilliant, and totally nailed his personality.

Without further ado, I present to you Dino's spirit-being: Spock from Star Trek.

A person constantly fighting the battle between his human emotions and cold Vulcan logic, Spock is a complicated character, much like Dino. Both are very intelligent, confident, somewhat detached, and sparing with their affection. They are also both loyal and dependable, and have a dry, sarcastic sense of humor. The more I looked at the following GIF's the more I laughed at how much they resemble each other!

Dino's personality can be... difficult. For example,

A classic tantrum:

And when he's done being inside his stall, he just lets himself out and leaves without asking permission:

The constantly conflicting emotions involved in the relationship between Dino, Me, and My Trainer:

Riding Dino is an exercise in learning to deal with his strong opinions about everything.

He often ignores any and all forward aids:

And has a lot of opinions about how he thinks his training should go:

When I ask him to do difficult dressage moves, he has a lot of reasons as to why that's not possible:

And is often amused when I express my frustration:

I often find myself desperate to convince him to get with the program:

But beating him only forces him into complete and total mental lockdown:

But Dino does, eventually, come around and work with me. Though he does have his reservations when I finally convince him that going forward is a thing he can do:

And reluctantly admits that, sometimes, I'm right:

Once in a while, he concedes that the XC jump he stopped at in complete terror at was not, actually, pony-eating:

But he still hates it when I end up being right about something:

When I start "riding right" he expresses his relief thusly:

And don't even get him started on how he feels about hunter riders:

But, there are things in life that Dino shows excitement about.

Like trail rides!

And jumping XC:

Even though on the outside he may seem like he merely tolerates me and my shenanigans:

And sometimes seems fed up with me and my crazy ideas:

Dino really does love me and want me around:

He's always there to get me out of sticky situations:

And even if he doesn't show it all the time, he's genuinely concerned about me:

Despite his quirks, opinions, and complex personality, Dino does consider me to be his friend:

I can't wait to see which TV and movie characters everyone's horses resemble! Thank you for the inspiration, Austen. This was too much fun!
