Blogger Housekeeping: 2Pointober, and Equinpilot's Contest!

Y'all... yesterday was the first day of October. (how did this happen!?)

And you know what that  means.

2POINTOBER IS HERE!!

The month wherein all of us crazy bloggers try and best each other in a feat of strength and endurance by staying in two-point position while riding longer than anyone else. I came in second place last year, and I am bound and determined to increase my time this year!

Even if you don't blog, I encourage you to join in this fun little contest. It's good for your own strength and fitness, and having a little competition makes the torture more bearable.

In other blog-land news, Nicole over at Equinpilot is hosting a really great contest to raise awareness for the Caisson Platoon Equine Assisted Programs - a wonderful organization that provides horse-based therapy to military veterans. The rules of the contest are that each entrant must post the answers to a few trivia questions about the CPEAP on their blog, so here we go!

1. When was the Caisson Platoon Equine Assisted Programs started? May 2006
2. What are at least 3 benefits of equine assisted therapy? Increases self confidence, improves core muscle groups, improves center of balance.
3. Students complete lesson reviews twice each lesson which helps record the therapeutic effects.
4. This picture shows an important facet of the program. What is it? Soldiers helping soldiers.

Bonus: Recently arena letters were purchased for the program. Why did fence letters work better than letters on cones? Riders who have balance issues or head/neck injuries would find it easier to look up/straight ahead than down at a letter.
