On Again, Off Again

It feels like we keep almost getting started.

We almost got started with a full season of hunting, and then Dino got injured. Oh, and I bought a house.

He healed, I settled into my new home, and we almost got started with winter riding. Until we had absolutely terrible weather from January until, well, now. With no end in sight.

We almost got started taking weekly lessons again, but there seems to always be a scheduling conflict keeping my trainer and I from maintaining a regular time slot each week.

My farrier couldn't get out to put Dino's lost shoe back on until Tuesday evening, so there went four more days of lost riding just when the weather and the footing were starting to become moderately acceptable.

On again, off again.

It's discouraging, to be sure, and a part of me feels like I'll never get back to where we were at the end of last season - confident and fit and ready to take on the world.

But, I suppose, some seasons of life are just like that.

  1. Ugh that's so crappy, I hate that feeling and this winter has certainly been full of it! Fingers crossed that your scheduling conflicts and all the little disruptions start easing up soon and that the weather gets better in time for you guys to get back out there!!

  2. The weather here is really just kicking my butt! It feels like I'm never going to be able to ride consistently outside and omg how will we ever be ready for show season? BUT I feel like this happens around this time every year and somehow we always get to ride outside and make it to horse shows.

In short: this too shall pass.

  4. This is so much how I’ve been feeling this winter!! If it’s not one thing it’s another and it always comes at the worst time for my motivation. I’m pretty sure there are clear sky’s and better weather ahead :)

  8. That can be frustrating, but I think once the snow melts it will show some blossoming opportunities for you two!
