Final Preparations

"I hear snax in the distance..."
Yesterday and today are dedicated to cleaning, packing, and organizing everything I'll need for the clinic. I've already went out and got shavings, UlcerGard, and everything I needed to put together the best gift basket ever for our gracious hosts.

I'll also be spending a lot of time saying fervent prayers to ward off bad weather.

We've got snow in the forecast for Saturday, and slushy roads are not something I'm terribly enthused about hauling on. So, Saturday's participation is a little bit up-in-the-air and weather-dependent at this point.

You'd think by April we wouldn't have to worry about this sort of thing anymore, but nooooo. Screw you, Nature.

Dino will get an easy trot set day today, and as clean as I can get him without giving him a bath. I'll scrub and pack and load everything up, and hopefully tomorrow afternoon we'll be on our way to ride with Lainey!

WonderPony will also be sporting this very attractive, very large spur rub pad:

It looks ridiculous, but it does a GREAT job of protecting his hairless side, and will hopefully avoid people asking if he has some sort of disease. (I mean, he is diseased, but not like that!)

  1. "Is he diseased? Why yes. He has ponytuditis. Be careful. It's very contagious." ;)

  4. You're like Phillip Dutton now with that pad! Hopefully it makes the pony jump around like a 4* pony. Good luck and have fun!

  5. That pad is great! I love how the spur rub part detaches so it becomes "normal" when you want/need it to!

  6. I think Equifit has a nice low profile pad thing one if you end up needing a long term solution! I've definitely seen a lot of people with similar setups though, so you won't look tooo crazy. ;)

  7. Omg I kinda love that pad tho!!!! (Just be sure to wipe your boots down, or maybe even swipe a stiff body brush across the soles, to keep that white bright!) also I'm so bummed about this weather... Here's hoping you can salvage something good from it after all!
