A PONY'TUDE Book Review: A Night Without Stars

Warning! Non-horse-related content ahead!

I'm of the opinion that one is never, ever too old for a good Young Adult novel, especially when the storyline involves battling a horde of bloodthirsty monsters. Add a heroine that you can't help but root for, and you have a recipe for a fun, engaging read!

A Night Without Stars, by my good friend, former roommate, and author Jillian Eaton, is an edge-of-your-seat adventure about the struggles of growing up, the pain our families put us through, and vampires. Scary ones. There's not a single brooding, sparkly vampire to be found here.

The shining star of this book is our brave heroine, Lola. She's angsty, honest, snarky, stubborn, vulnerable, funny, and brave as hell. Lola perfectly captures what it's like to be a teenager, and her take on things is both endearing and entertaining. You'll find yourself cheering her on with every turn of the page.

And you'll be turning pages very quickly! A Night Without Stars is fast-paced and the action is non-stop. I found myself unable to put this book down, wide-eyed in suspense and eager to discover along with Lola what exactly was going on and if she and the other survivors would make it to the end of the book. It's the kind of book that will keep you up at night, desperately flipping pages and sometimes gasping out loud.

If you're looking for a fun, fast, exciting read, I HIGHLY recommend A Night Without Stars by Jillian Eaton! And if you find yourself as devastated as I was by the cliffhanger ending, you'll be happy to know that the sequel, A Day Without Dawn, is being released in May!

Happy Reading!
