2016 wasn't easy, and there were many times that I was tempted to give up jumping and showing and trail ride bareback for the rest of my life. But I also learned a lot in 2016 - about mental toughness, when to take a step back, and when to push forward. I was reminded that I ride for the joy of it, and that my version of success may not look like anyone else's. Dino and I have come to the end of this year as better, stronger, happier partners for each other, and THAT, my friends, is what I call a successful year.
And to top it off, I got to see my beautiful, wonderful support system in action! All of you out there on the interwebs, my "IRL" riding friends, my trainer, and even non-horsey friends and family all stood by and rooted for Dino and I throughout this year, through victories and defeats, cheering us on in everything we did. Thank you for coming along on this adventure with us! I'm so excited to see what wonderful things 2017 will hold for us.
Seems like it all added up to a fantastic year!
ReplyDeletewhat a year!! you two really accomplished so much!! and i'm inspired by your hopeful optimism and determination in the face of adversity or tough times :D
ReplyDeleteI love this break down! You guys definitely toughed it out this year, and I'm so excited to see what next year brings! Plus I'm a little pleased to see someone with as many 4th place ribbons as me. Six does seem like a large amount, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteWhen I came home from our last HT with ANOTHER 4th place, my husband literally said instead of congratulating me, "Oh. You're ALWAYS in 4th place." So much white. So boring.
DeleteI am really really excited to see 2017 for you. You and Dino have grown so much as a pair!
ReplyDeleteDespite all the lessons learned and tough things you went through together, you and Dino still got so much done! What a great year it turned out to be for you both!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a great year and it's not over yet!
ReplyDeleteI started following your adventures midway through the year and was impressed -- obviously I missed some interesting ones earlier on, will have to go back and check those out! Congratulations on a super successful year!
ReplyDeleteI love these types of posts because for us as riders and owners they are SO GOOD. Like I know you struggled a lot this year and had a tough time... but you still got out and did SO MUCH!
ReplyDeleteYou had a busy year!
