Weigh-In Wednesday: Week 2

A more typical meal these days! Love me some veggies.

So far, so good for the most part.

Food? WIN. I have been really awesome at not eating cookies for breakfast. This has been the easiest part of helping myself get fit, to be honest. I've not been stuffing myself to the gills at every meal, have been avoiding boredom snacks, and have seriously cut down on the carbs and sugar in my life. After 2 weeks of paying attention to when I feel full and stopping there, I've found that I just can't physically eat as much as when I just kept on eating because food tastes so good. I've also limited my beer drinking to one or two on the weekends. Big win here!

Exercise? MEH. While I did ride more this week than during Week 1, and flung around more frozen water buckets than I care to think about, I wasn't as awesome about outside-the-barn workouts as I could have been. They definitely didn't happen every day, and I let my lack of energy get the best of me. However, when I did do a Pilates workout, I noticed that some of the movements are getting easier for me, which is exciting! I can hold a plank position for longer than when I started back up with Pilates, and I can follow along with the video 'class' without having to stop some movements early because my abs were quivering like a bowl of Jell-O. While not a total FAIL, I would say that exercise was not a complete WIN for this week, either.

Next week I will actually be in sunny Florida, so I'm hoping that even though I'll be on vacation I can still keep up with these good habits. Exercising might even be easier when I can add swimming or running outside into the mix!

    1. Thanks! :) I think for a lot of people getting to like veggies is about tasty preparation. All of the veggie-haters I know were raised on horrid canned or boiled-to-death vegetables. Even I won't eat that!

  2. Can you post (or PM) the recipe of the veggie plate you posted? It looks awesome!

    1. It's just a really simple salad! Fresh, raw kale topped with cucumbers, tomatoes, green olives, some cheese, and a vinaigrette dressing from a bottle. Sometimes I'll throw some chicken breast on there if I have any handy, too. :)

  3. Ha, "vacation" kind of murdered my good habits. Granted, it was freezing and I was too busy to do anything. Although I think my sprint through the airport totally counts.

    1. For real! I'm hoping that I'll get ample opportunities to work off the extra calories... our hotel will have a gym, and I think a pool, plus we'll be doing a lot of walking in parks and such, so I'm not TOO worried...

    1. Try it different ways... sauteed in garlic and olive oil as a side dish is pretty tasty, or just blend it up in a fruit smoothie. You won't even taste it (honest!) and you'll get a ton of good fiber & vitamins in you that way.

  7. I'm finally learning to like veggies and I even came from a home with no canned veggies. Seriously my mom would be like here are some carrot sticks for a snack and I would take a bite and start gagging, texture issues. But it seems I'm finally growing up and while not in love with veggies I'm also not hating them ;-) kudos to you on the progress!

  9. Go you!!! It is so hard to make a change, but feels so good when it is for the right reasons and you take back some control over the things that seem to control you (for me, food is a huge one) Keep up the awesome work :)
